Sakarya University State Conservatory was established in 1997.
Conservatory started education by taking 15 students to “Basic Sciences Department” through special talent exam in 2000-2001 Academic Year.
In 2000-2001 Academic Year, first attempt was made for foundation of two fresh departments named “Turkish Music Department” and “Turkish Folk Dances Department”. After that, the divisions were ready to accept new students in February of 2001.
In 2020 three new departmants were opened. These are “Voice Training Department”, “Instrument Training Department”and Musicology Department”. These new departments started education in 2020-2021 Academic Year. In 2020-2021 Academic Year two departments “Turkish Music” and “Basic Sciences” departments were closed and until 2020 student admission is not being done for these departments anymore.
Voice Training Department admits 10 students to “Turkish Art Music” Art Major and 10 students to “Turkish Folk Music” Art Major by Special Talent Exams held every summer period.Voice. Mission of Voice Traning Department in both area of Turkish Music; Turkish Art and Folk Music is to educate academicians,trainers,and artists who can represent their artistic performances traditionally by means of voice instrument and afterwards these artistic works and educations to represent our traditional music art in all national-international platforms.
Instrument Training Department admits totally 20 students. 10 students to “Turkish Art Music Art Major” and 10 students to “Turkish Folk Music Art Major” by Special Talent Exams held every summer period.Instrument Training Department aims to educate instumentalists who can perform one of the Turkish Folk or Art Music instruments in advanced level.Mission of
this department is to educate graduates who have elements as theory and repertoires of Turkish music and elements as piano and harmony of Western Music.
Musicology Department admits 20 students by Special Talent Exams held every summer period. Mission of this part is to constitute a modern education culture which can use universal information and technology products, inquisitive, participative ,sharing ,original and educate individuals who is competant in his/her job, and who has artistic and aesthetic values
and respectfull to social values.
Turkish Folk Dances Department admits totally 25 students of 12 female and 13 male.Mission of this department is educate trainers,performers and academicians who are open minded about artistic and scientific improvements and chances both national -international and also who have a command of National Turkish Folk Dances ,who can make original works by combining today’s art movements.
Every year 85 students are taken to our conservatory through Special Talent Exams.
The Academic Stuff of Sakarya University Conservatory is composed of 4 Professors, 5 Associate Professors, 17 Lecturers and 8 Research Assistants.
After graduating from Sakarya University State Conservatory, gradutes can make academic career by taking post-graduate education; they can be musicologists,music advisers and program producers.Beneath these; they can be vocal or instrument artists in State Radios and State Choirs; they can be composers, vocal or instrument artists in music industry. In addition to these graduates can be music and folk dances teachers as well.
